If you have any missing teeth, dental implants are a minimally invasive way to restore your smile. Once a tooth is extracted, a bone graft is placed to structure the area. Upon healing, a new implant is installed at the bone to prevent further bone loss around the affected tooth. A crown can be fitted on top of the implant once it has fused to the underlying bone. Alternatively, your dentist at North Brand Dental can fit you for bridges or dentures in cases where multiple implants are made.
Dental extractions involve the removal of teeth from the alveolar bone, and may be required if you’re suffering from severe tooth decay, infections, or have broken or fractured teeth. Extractions are very common our Dental Extraction specialist will check if your wisdom teeth need to be removed due to a lack of space, partial emergence, or underlying bone infections. To preserve the bone and provide structural support ahead of Dental implants or other dental procedures, a portion of bone can be grafted elsewhere from the body or supplied by a donor.
Wisdom teeth can lead to problems if there isn’t enough space for them to surface or they come through in the wrong position. If our Orthodontist says your wisdom teeth are impacted, he or she means they are trapped in your jaw or under your gums. The most common treatment for wisdom teeth symptoms is extraction of the teeth. Wisdom teeth extraction is generally done at a dentist’s office under local or general anesthesia. Your Oral Surgeon will discuss these options and any complications before the extraction procedure.
